Accreditation Process for 2010 Olympic Winter Games Begins Today















COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- The U.S. Olympic Committee is now accepting requests from United States media organizations for credentials for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. The application form is available through http://usocpressbox.org. Go to that website and click on "Media Credentialing" on the left-hand side. Fill out the form for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games and hit Submit.

The deadline for making the request is September 15, 2008. This process is open to print, Internet and photographic media organizations. All broadcasters will be accredited by the IOC. The form will soon be available on the IOC website www.olympic.org and the deadline for submission for all non-rights holding broadcasters will be in November, 2008.

The USOC has received a limited number of credentials for allocation to U.S. media outlets in the U.S. The USOC and a committee composed of Associated Press Sports Editors, along with representatives of magazines, Internet sites and photographers will meet in October to determine the media allocation for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

This step of the accreditation process is for organizations only. Once the numbers are approved by the Accreditation Committee, media will be notified in November as to their allocation . The Press By Name procedure begins in June, 2009.
